These resources provide a dynamic way to introduce and understand the Distributive Law of Multiplication and the Perfect Square Identity.
Similar in structure, they use animation to explain the difference between a variable and a constant, and then move on to the idea of an algebraic identity via varying and non-varying area models.
These videos are accompanied by a classroom-ready unit of work designed to reinforce the identities at play in the areas of our curriculum that are loosely addressed by the procedures of “expand” and “factorise”.
